YEREVAN, APRIL 18, NOYAN TAPAN. Hripsime Khurshudian (75 kg, city of Kasakh) won a gold medal (clean and jerk - 141 kg) at the Women's European Weightlifting Championship in the Italian city of Lignano on April 17. However, she failed to lift 115 kg (snatch) and to win a medal in the double-event. At the men's competition held in the evening, Tigran G. Martirosian (69 kg, city of Gyumri) was notable for his skills. With the following results: 158 (snatch), 188 (clean and jerk), 346 (double-event), he became the European champion. Tigran won the gold medal in snatch and the silver in clean and jerk as his personal weight is more than that of last year's European champion Densala Dabava of France, who took second place this time. T. Martirosian also set 7 world records for juniors. Another Armenian weightlifter - Ara Miszoyan (the same weight category, of city of Etchmiadzin) was in 12th place.
