IT IS ENVISAGED TO IMPLEMENT URBAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS OF
13.9 BILLION DRAMS IN YEREVAN IN 2008

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 30, NOYAN TAPAN. By the 2008 draft state
budget, the total amount of subsidies to be given to local
government bodies of Yerevan's 12 communities by the principle
of financial equalization will make 6.786 bln drams, which
exceeds by 1.1 bln drams (3.3 mln USD) the respective index of
2007. The Yerevan municipality has submitted bids for city
capital expenditures of 13.9 bln drams for 2008, the deputy
mayor of Yerevan Kamo Areyan said at the October 30 joint
sitting of the RA National Assembly standing committees.
According to him, this sum will be allocated for the
implementation of programs on road construction and major
repairs, reinforcement of accident-prone buildings of 3rd
degree, demolition of accident-prone buildings of 4th degree and
construction of new ones, restoration of irrigation networks,
maintenance of water structures, and on exterior lighting of
streets.
