"AREVORDI" FIRST ENVIRONMENTAL REGIONAL FESTIVAL TO BE HELD
ON APRIL 1-15 IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, JANUARY 31, NOYAN TAPAN. The "Arevordi" first environmental regional festival will be held on April 1-15 in Dilijan. The organizers of this environmental festival are the Charitable Fund on Protection of Nature and Cultural Values in Armenia and the "Arevordi" public organization. As the Noyan Tapan correspondent was informed by the fund, the goal of the festival is to draw the society's attention to ecological problems existing in the region, to create a neutral field of cooperation avoiding regional conflicts and tension which will assist search of new and effective solutions. Within the framework of the festival, shows of films in the competition and extra-competition departmens, photo-exhibitions, concert-actions as well as a number of ecological events, trips, tree-planting, gathering of rubbish are envisaged in different regions of the republic. Besides, ecological seminars will be organized during the festival days with a goal of exchange of international experience. Experts, ecologists and journalists invited from the region and abroad will participate in the seminars. Modern problems like protection of interests, creation of an ecological coalition, net cooperation and development of ecotourism in the region will be discussed during the seminars. The slogan of the festival will be "For Children, with Children's Active Participation." Courses were organized, ecological films were shown in schools of the marzes with the fund's efforts to bring children closer to the nature, to estimate values of native nature, to arise interest in ecological problems. Giving corresponding equipment and professional consultation, children were given possibility to shoot own films on nature protection the best among which will be presented at the films competition department of the festival.
