YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 13, NOYAN TAPAN. Naira Melkumian, the Executive Director of the "Hayastan" (Armenia) All-Armenian fund leaves for France to take part in the European annual phonethon being held on November 16-19. As the Noyan Tapan correspondent was informed by the fund's Public Relations Department, after the phonethon N.Melkumian will leave for Los Angeles where the Phonethon 2006 will be held on November 23. It was mentioned that geography and the number of participants of the all-European phonethon traditionally being held on the threshold of the telephon grow annually. Unlike the previous year, Belgia, where the local body of the fund opened recently, will for the first time take part in the phonethon this year. In total, 700 volunteers will participate in the European phonethon this year. They will phone not only to the French Armenians, but also to representatives of the Armenian communities of Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium. It was also mentioned that the fund continues to do works in the direction of widening the list of countries participating in the European phonethon: it is envisaged to involve Italy as well in the 2007 phonethon. The phonethon will be held in Armenia and Artsakh on November 15-17.
