In Armenia mainly 40-year-old women with higher education are subjected to sexual abuse regardless of their marital status. The head of "Sociometer" sociological independent center Aharon Adibekyan informed Noyan Tapan about this."In this period women are thrust into age crisis so it is easier to prompt them to have undesirable sex," Aharon Adibekyan said. 18-24-year-old women are the target of sexual harassment but often they are an object of unsuccessful attempt. According to the results of the sociological surveys in Armenia women are subjected to sexual violence mainly in families and workplaces by colleagues. According to A. Adibekyan's surveys in Armenia the common ways of violence against women are psychological pressure, physical violence as a means of punishment and then sexual abuse. According to 138 article of the RA Criminal Code rape is punished by 3-6 years criminal imprisonment.
