MEASURES ON IMPROVEMEMT OF BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT TO BE TAKEN
IN ARMENIA IN NEXT 1.5 YEARS

YEREVAN, JUNE 26, NOYAN TAPAN. At the June 26 sitting, the
RA government approved the program of measures on improvement of
the business environment in Armenia. The deputy minister of
economy Vahram Ghushchian told reporters following the sitting
that a number of measures will be implemented in the next 1.5
years with the aim of improving the business environment.
According to him, the World Bank studies in 167 countries last
year showed that Armenia made progress by several indices, but
regress was registered with respect to some indices as well.
Among these countries, Armenia takes 39th place, Georgia 17th
in terms of improvement of the business environment.
V. Ghushchian said that by the WB study, Armenia is in 2nd
place by the short duration of property registration process and
in 47th place by the index of duration of an enterprise
foundation. The deputy minister noted that by 2010 Armenia may
become 3rd on this list. Credit receiving is also a problem, and
Armenia will move from 36th to 13th position by this index.
According to the WB, Armenia is in 83rd place by investment
security index and takes 143rd position in terms of tax payment.
